Parenting Tough Kids Program

Parenting isn’t easy – we’re here to help

At Crossroads, we apply evidence-based strategies to develop parenting and stress-management skills and improve family dynamics. With the guidance of a trained mental health coach, parents in the Parenting Tough Kids Program will learn to parent effectively and foster strong relationships with their children, with an emphasis on communication, behavioural management, and mental health.

How does it work?

To learn more about program content and instruction, read our information document here!

Parenting Tough Kids is offered in two streams: coached and self-paced.

Parent Coaching

In this stream, a behaviour specialist will be assigned to your family who will meet with you weekly for 6 months to support you on your parenting journey. Weekly sessions will alternate between targeted coaching, where you practice parenting and mental health skills and discuss specific family concerns, and parent training, where you view the recorded content from the self-paced stream with your coach who will answer your questions and elaborate on topics as needed. Meetings can take place in-person at Crossroads Family Services, or over video calls. All coaching communication will be completed through a private coaching space on our online school, Family Solutions School.

Self-Paced – Coming Soon!

Follow along with Crossroads Family Services therapist Donna Laderoute, and Disability Care Program Manager Craig Ryan as they instruct program content in pre-recorded video lectures. For those interested in completing the program individually and without the assistance of a behaviour specialist, a flat rate is charged through our online learning platform Family Solutions School. From there, parents will instantly have access to the entire library of recorded course content and supplementary materials.

If you have been referred to us by FSCD, we can arrange for the program to be partially or fully subsidized. If you have not been referred to us, however, would benefit from course subsidization, we can support you in seeking program funding.
